This area is a pass between the San Joaquin Valley and the Mojave Desert. As you go down in elevation, the vegetation changes from pines and oaks to Joshua Trees. The pass acts like an atmospheric bottleneck between the San Joaquin Valley and the sea, causing constant strong winds. The winds have shaped the trees and brought wind farms to the area. The creek is dry most of the time, but it had snowed recently, and it was running.

This series is still in progress.
