As a child, I remember driving past farmland with my dad. I'd look out the window and be hypnotized by the convergence of the rows of crops and the zoetrope-like effect that made them seem like they were running with us as we sped past them.

The farmland where I grew up has mostly disappeared, covered by suburban homes or abandoned. I was searching for some of these abandoned fields when I found this orchard.

The place was sad. Animal burrows were everywhere, and the trees looked wild because they hadn't been trimmed in a long time. I was expecting to find the trees dried up husks, but I was surprised to see them covered with new buds.

As I was leaving, I ran into someone who lives close by. He told me the land had been bought and would be turned into a solar farm.

I hope to return and document the changes.
